I would love to reorder pages directly in the site tree via drag & drop!

The Doc Manager already has this great AJAX feature allowing to sort menu items by selecting a parent item, then drag & drop its children to reorder them. I would love to have that feature directly in the site tree: click & hold any ressource in the tree, and drag it (along with its children) to another place in the tree.

The problem with the feature in the Doc Manager is that if I want the content editors to be able to easily reorder pages, I need to allow them to run the whole Doc Manager module (in fact all modules), which is holding many other features - most of them more "risky", that I wouldn’t like to be available to the content editors (batch changing ressources’ properties, TVs, etc).

I remember this "drag & drop feature directly from the site tree" being part of Etomite. I am now an enthusiastic MODx user, but this one is missing!

    Cheers

      Revo does this already, FYI.

          What about Evolution ?

I know you can do this using DocManager - BUT you can not give acces to DocManager to every manager user
If i could manage acces to DocManager tabs... it would be great

I know Revo does this on the manager side but the pages are still in the original order on the front end of the site, is there any special setting I need to enable so the front end mimics the structure of the tree?

The only way I found it to re-order the front end pages is by changing the date.

            Thanks.

What are you using to display the "front-end page list"? It completely depends on this information, since you have to order by menuindex to match the sort order of the tree. For instance, getResources uses the publishedon date by default for sorting the Resources it summarizes, but this can vary from Add-On to Add-On.

I am using getResources so I can override the default value by using sort by menuindex? If so that is sweet thanks for the info smiley
