first: i’m a total novice in the area of CMX .. i mean .. CMS .. so .. anyway.

    modx revolution:
I spent some time trying to find where to set the date format to the UK standard : dd-mm-yyyy. I can’t find where to set this. It may be that there isn’t an option to set this.

    My suggestion is that :
the default should be in the form:
    yyyy-mm-dd
.. i.e. most significant to least significant - like any other kind of measure. This also removes doubt and confusion when, for instance, a date is presented as 07-06-2010 and we euros don’t know if it’s supposed to be 7th june or 6th july and we have to use complex Sherlock Holmesian deductive processes to determine the truth.

    plus, of course: options of
    dd-mm-yyyy
    and
    mm-dd-yyyy

i originally moaned about this on twitter it was suggested that i should make a bug report .. but .. one look at the form filling dissuaded me and i settled for a simple post in the forum instead.

Jira isn’t that hard once you get used to it. Posting bugs in the forums is generally discouraged because they eventually get buried in the volume.

Hence why we push people to file bugs on our system rather than post in the forums.

ok, mr splittingred, you’ve shamed me into submitting a bug report.

I’ve no idea how it should’ve been categorised, so i went for
        Manager Interface Layout; Improvement; Minor.

(it’s those decisions about categories for the report when i have no background to base a decision that puts me off, so i just didn’t put thought into it.)

          What’s the ticket/link for cross-reference?

And are you talking about the format presented in the manager, i.e. in the date pickers? Or where specifically are you seeing these formatted dates? Just want to get us on the same page here.

            @OpenGeek

the ref to my JIRA report is: MODX-1599

i first noticed (in the modx revolution manager thingy) the date format is defaulted to mm/dd/yy when creating static resource for an error page.
            i.e.: i saw:
Static Resource : Page Settings : Published On : 01/19/10

i was suspicious because there are usually less than 19 months in a year. I deduced that the US date format was being used. (I may not have noticed this if the date was on or before 12th).

At this point i looked around in System -> System Settings to see if i could change date format to yyyy-mm-dd or dd-mm-yyyy .. but couldn’t find an option.

I don’t undersand the purpose of using mm-dd-yyyy. It’s uncomfortable and confusing

No purpose, it’s just the default format used by that javascript UI widget I believe. This setting will be added before RC-1.

sorry for late response, I might have expressed myself in a wrong way due to my English. I meant - why do people even include this option? it’s illogical imo, the date should be from most important to least, or vice-versa. Never mind. Though I had got some unpleasant issues because of it.
