Let’s make content editing more user friendly! How many times did you have to save document and hit "Preview" button to check if your content looks fine?
Proposal is to add possibility to edit content and see real time how it will look on the website.
Implementation:
1. Load real front-end template
2. Replace [*content*], [*longtitle*] and all other used tags(also text-type template variables, like [*myExtraText*]) with editable part of the text editor
3. Put settings/options bar of the editor at the top of the page, common for all editable parts (it is possible)
4. It is also possible to set editor CSS style the same as in front-end (so content looks like in front end)
5. onSave save everything to db
6. (Also would be nice for image template variables to add a possibility: click on it and image select dialog pops out)
It is not a new idea. It has been already implemented in few CMSs. It is nice for content editing and really easy for clients (who are not good with computers) to understand how to use it.
Screenshots in attachement illustrate the idea.
Isn’t that pretty much what Quick Manager does if you visit the front end whilst logged in to the Manager?
Yes, Quick Manager pretty much does the thing. Except you have to edit content in the pop-up, not directly in the page.
