Recalculate the menuindex when delete document

Hey,
I think this can be very helpful when we moderate the site. For example: I have a site with news, that are deleted and moving by orders pritty offen. When i want to move my document from the middle to the top or down, after that i need to change the menuindex order for other doc’s. More difficult it is when i delete some docs. The new documents are getting menuindex that other has already and everything goes to crap.
I can even write some code but i’m not really familiar with the way of helping the projects. How can i do that?

PS: Sorry for my english
Bless,
loganix

I rarely delete documents; I just edit them as needed. As far as moving documents around, try the drag-and-drop feature in the Docmanager module.

With that order this is very helpful of course. Thanks for this
But i think the idea with recalculate docs when trash is cleaning is good. This can help many webmasters and moderators in work

if you delete a document it won’t change the effective sort order, there’ll just be a gap in the sequence. I would think you could create a plugin to keep it all tidy though.

Remember that menuindex numbers don’t have to be sequential. If you use 10, 20, 30, etc. (or even 100, 200, 300) it will leave room to move things around without changing all the numbers.
