It would be nice if MODx and PrestaShop team up to make a MODx module for e-commerce. PrestaShop has tonz of features its much better then osCommerce and ZEN Cart.

What would an integration look like? (That means different things to different people.)

Basically a MODX CMS Presta Bridge. So if you Logged into a MODX enabled site your user settings would be transparent with PrestaShop as well. I wouldn’t want people to have the ability to add products within MODX because Presta does that already. The ability to show case products on a Modx site would be nice and to have a idea how many items are in your shopping cart from within a modx site.

When I was comparing shopping carts about 8 months ago, Presta Shop looked like one of the cleanest and simplest ones. However, does it have any integration with Authorize.NET or Quantum Gateway? I think is only does PayPal and Google checkout.

You should post a inquiry on Presta’s FORUMS regarding those gateways. Lot of my friends they use Website Payments Pro by Pay pal.

Prestashop, last I checked, still had limited Gateway support. We found it so limiting (or inflexible without hacking it) that we ended up using Ditto to build a faux shopping cart system (with ManagerManager for a Product Details page coupled with a lot of Template Variables) and going with FoxyCart, but that approach to has it’s limitations. We are going to have a look at OpenCart next but given our experience with Prestashop and OSCommerce and the incredible frustration with both, we are leaning toward just making a custom MODx shopping cart or abandoning MODx entirely for any eCommerce sites. It will be a tough call.

This looks encouraging, but thus far remains in development so nothing has yet been released, though it looks like a solid foundation. We found TreasureChest initially encouraging until we used it and scratched it off as an option. A solid foundation would be a great starting point as eCommerce, like social networking and memberships are increasingly standard "features" of web sites, not to mention blogging of course, but for that we have DItto and we’ll see how it’s done in Revolution.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I’m shopping for cms/ecommerce combinations. I don’t know if this thread is still relevant, but I was curious to see if anyone else has made any progress / experience using this combination (Modx / Prestashop).

For cms, i’ve only installed drupal so far (after MUCH reading about the other popular ’Enterprise’ ones like Joomla, Liferay etc) and it seems very powerful (if not exactly clean / fluid). I’m going in the process of checking out Modx as we speak.

For ecommerce / carts I have so far installed magento, prestashop, oscommerce and zen-cart. Prestashop seems to be the leader in being a clean approach. (Magento has flexibility but seems to consume more resources than I could possibly imagine.) I just wanted to say that Prestashop has Authorize.Net support as many others now (I will be using Authorize so I didn’t check for Quantum).

I’m playing with a local Xampp install on Windows, but the host will most likely be Linux.

I’ll post a thread if I get any interesting results.
(I come from a Java EJB / Spring background so ’complex’ is relative wink

This is the main info I could find on PrestaShop and Authorize.NET.
                  http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/9545/P0/modules___development/authorize_dot_net_payment_gateway_module

Did you find any better info than this? Seems like there is still some work to be done before it is completely ready?

LemonStand seems very promising and very MODx like, though it’s paid open source and version 1 is not quite out yet. One to watch.

http://foxycart.com/ was created originally to work really well with MODx. It’s not free, but for under US $20/month I would challenge you to find an alternate PCI-compliant solution that is as flexible.
