I have a site that needs to integrate with Quickbooks. I’m considering the ecc shopping cart connector which lists these compatible shopping carts.

Which one do you guys think would offer the best MODx integration. It needs to be an installable solution (not hosted) and cost isn’t much of an issue but it should be a one time purchase not subscription based.

The other point I would like to consider is connecting the order history to the MODx customer profile so they can view their own history.

I can’t really comment on that connector’s capability as I usually end up custom coding all quickbooks integration connectors myself, because no two quickbooks accounts setup are ever the same. It looks very promising though, if you end up using it please come back in and give your thoughts on it. Im very curious how you’d get along with it.

I used to do all my own qbxml requests and such from scratch, but then I smartened up, and started using the php quickbooks framework by Keith Palmer to do the heavy lifting for me. Saved me hours of custom coding: https://idnforums.intuit.com/messageview.aspx?catid=56&threadid=9164

Ive found it easier overall to dev my own qb API connector per client basis using the qb framework, than to adopt my code to the canned connector’s APIs. YMMV though, depending on how quick and dirty you need the initial project completed. I tend to like to take the pain up front, and make it easier on myself later, than vice versa. laugh

sorry not much help to ya, but interested in your results if ya choose to use it,
      Dave

OOPS: Meant to include this list of carts + instructs to connect to them using the free qb php framework above:

        wowzow,

In your quickbooks integration experience would it be possible to build a MODx snippet/plugin using that QB Framework and yet keep it flexible enough to be used by anyone? If so could I hire you to help me build something for this site I’m working on along with making it a universal snippet and then putting the source back into the MODx repository once it is finished?

What are some of the aspects you had when integrating sites that were custom between sites?

Maximum deadline for me is August 31st 2010.
