Building site for Cub Scout Pack

I am working on a new site for a Cub Scout pack and looking for some advice and direction.

What plugins are popular and work well for what I am trying to do.
They want to have a page for each den and have news and notices for each. Use Jot?
They also want a calander. Use Easy Events or Google Calendar?
They also want to add pictures. What works best for that?

I want this easy to use and for them so they can edit content and add info.
Does anyone have examples or suggestions?

Well, I am a MODx Greenhorn but here’s what I have found...

Plugins:
TinyMCE

Snippets:
WayFinder
UltimateParent

Calendar:
I have only used this one with much success. (Uses Google Calendar as admin)

Pictures:
You can add pictures within the content area anywhere you want. However if you want a picture to show up in a specified spot - style - whatever. You can create a template variable for it.

A site that uses everything I have mentioned is in my dev server, so I am unable to share a link.

You can use Ditto for "news" and "notices"; it will use a single resource (document) for each item, then Ditto will aggregate them and display a list of titles, summaries and links.

You can also use Jot; it uses its own database tables and displays a list of the items in its table. For "notices" it might be a better choice. It all depends on what exactly you want it to do. Ditto can provide links to a full page for each item as well as an archive feature; Jot just has the list of items.

If you want galleries, there are several nice gallery apps. I’m playing with Easy 2 Gallery right now, but I also very much like the looks of EvoGallery.
