TV's - 2 new input types

It would be great to have an iframe input type. Why?
- I’m using Google Calendar + GoogleEvents for my calendars
- The Client could click on ’Event Calendar’ and see the iframe to insert/edit new dates
- With ManagerManager, the iframe can be in it’s own tab
- Now the client can to it via a module, but that’s one more thing to open them up to and one more thing to remember
- 2 other uses - DadaMail, and a table editor.

The second input type would be a ’multi-text’ or table
- similar to: http://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/39153/
- choose how many rows you want
- it would be great for product options with rows of (Name, Description, Price)


The best thing would be to allow custom input types but I know that is beyond the current scope of things.

I like this one but then that you can create rows dynamicly inside a document. So that you can use it for a unlimited list of links or images (example)

I would like to have a list output widget. So many times I need to take a delimited list and use a snippet to turn it into a <ul> list.

I would also like a multiple-document select where you could select a variable number of documents from the doc tree and output a delimited list.

And the multi text is way cool. It would also be cool to be able to create relationships between TVs, like first name, last name so they could be displayed side by side rather than stacked.

What’s wrong with using a snippet to create your own custom output "widget"? In fact, I like the idea of having a bunch of snippets available to choose from and tweak as my specific need at the moment requires much better than a bunch of functions in a core file that I would need to hack to get it to do as I want.

I like using output snippets as well. It might be good to have a wiki page or something of generic ’output snippets’. modx (using new name) is just sooo open.

That’s what I use. That’s for output widgets. I am speaking of a table row for the input inside the manager. See the top link to expression engine as an example.

That sounds like a great idea. In fact, now that I understand it (thanks Chuck) I could have used it already. Here’s my vote!

While we’re chatting, I’ve always wanted a way to add a geographic coordinate as a TV input type Would be super useful for geo-tagging assets (news, blog entries, photos, files, etc.).

Great ideas Chuck. Probably something that’ll be much more doable with Revolution.
