I wonder how the development of MODx is doing, any news on that? It seems to me it’s somewhat slowing down at the moment... I’m probably wrong, but being an outsider it’s hard for me to tell.
Anyhow- I feel the manager should be made accessible, which means losing the frames and the AJAX (or using hijax - http://domscripting.com/presentations/xtech2006/ instead of ajax). And it should be possible to customize the look and feel of the manager. I know there’s a plug-in for that, but it should be native.
I think MODx has the potential to become big in the webstandards community because of its lovely templating system, but I don’t think this’ll happen if the manager isn’t fixed first...
Thanks for MODx - I love it!

      IIRC, isn’t 0.9.7 using Ajax/Ext/etc.?

Currently the Manager is not fully accessible and the 0.9.7 manager is not yet fully accessible either since it is entirely built on ExtJS (which is limited in accessibility although it is being addressed by the EXT JS Team).

That being said it is a consideration and there is an issue filed to commence work on an alternative manager interface that could be done as an addon in an install. While it is too convoluted to get into here, it is entirely possible to build your own manager in 097. You could either build it as a new context or replace the entire manager since the new 097 manager is no longer integrated with the MODx core but is a package that resides at its side.

Once 097 is in beta and the Manager is down to bug fixes and adjustments and the API is locked down an Accessible manager project will certainly be a priority for some community members.

          That sounds great. smiley

Yes, definitely. I’m looking forward to playing with this new manager package. If it’s not too complicated (I’m a design/front-end person, not a programmer) I’d be interested in helping out.
