Native modx forum

Im not sure that this is the right place to post this but i would like to know if there are anyone out there working on a native forum for modx.

I know that there have been made some integrations of 3. part forums but I would like a forum that can use the same templates and tv’s like the rest of my modx site.

If no one is working on a native forum i might do the job myself and ofcause share it with the modx community.

I think you might see simple forum capabilities surface after 097 is released. The challenge isn’t so much with making posts, as it is with all the admin/moderation features that busy forums require ... those would take quite a bit of time to implement!

I would actually like to see this become an official MODx Extension for 0.9.7+. We are going to be introducing a proposal/incubation process for projects like this in the coming weeks, and I think this one should be front-and-center.

I know that this is not a simple implementation.

What is the timeframe for the 0.97 release ?

Would it be shooting off the target if the forum posts were stored in a new modx table so that the post is not generated as documents. I was thinking of making some snippets to control the retrive of posts and to create/alter posts.

User permission could be determined by usergroups.

Ofcause it would be nice to have some sort of forum administration inside the manager module. I have not made any modules to the modx yet but it could be a good way to learn making modules

Well this was just some thoughts. I really would like to have some sort of forum in the modx because I use modx for almost all my sites.
