I did a search on the site and forums for this and I didn’t spot anything about it. If you aren’t familiar with PicLens, well.. Go here. It’s an incredible plugin and I think it would be fantastic if MODx could support it’s use.

Thanks for the pointer I didn’t know that one... from the first impressions I’d say it’s an interresting concept well implemented. It seems to load fast and the interface is quite familiar for us Mac users, which is a good thing smiley

Indeed it could be great if someone decides to pick that one and turn this into a plugin !
Since there is a WordPress plugin, it could help provide a starting point...

I remember when PicLens first launched and was a Safari thing. In Firefox though it’s like 10 times more flashier with the thumbnail stacks. It’s pretty impressive.

Yeah it’s really nice, I spent a couple hours just googling airforce and viewing a massive wall of results. It’s utterly incredible. I don’t think a plugin even needs to be made (though that would be AWESOME if a similar effect could be done.) PicLens feeds off of Media RSS and if there was a plugin that could automatically create a media RSS for MODx, browser plugins like PicLens would be easily usable on a MODx based website.

I’m going to do some research into the manual RSS feed that they instruct you how to build with software you install on your pc. You can find this information for yourself on the Cooliris main website on this page: http://piclens.com/lite/

It seems to be a plug in for your browser which enables you to view a highly polished JS & Flash run gallery, it looks fantastic.
            Downsides:
Your visitors need the browser plug in, I got it to work in FireFox but not IE7
You need to generate the gallery using their free downloadable software, which was easy to do but I’m not sure the gallery is compatible with Lightbox etc. for those who don’t have the browser plug in.
I’m going to play some more.
Picture 1 is the basic gallery before clicking
Picture 2 is "the wall" you can zoom along the wall click and enlarge pictures etc.
The screen shots don’t really do it justice!

I’ve actually cobbled together a little snippet for this which goes raking through the MaxiGallery MySQL and the image folders etc. Kind of works, rattled it together with a custom RSS tpl.

I didn’t use Ditto, nor looked at MaxiGallery RSS (if there is such a thing) to get it working. Probably a better way than I’ve done it to get it working but I can post my progress & files if someone wants to pick it apart a bit to help get it final/working better.

I coded it up whilst off ill with the cold you see, so some of the code isn’t as optimised as I’d like but it does work.
              Cheers

I’d be interested to see what you’ve done. I have a site using maxigallery and I was also wanting to have it piclense ready.

                Thanks

                  Hi there,

Give me a little longer and i’ll see if I can get it generalised enough to operate outside of our (internal) test server.
Right now it’s using all sorts of lovely TV’s and so on to get data pertaining to our site specifically. grin

                  hope that’s ok.

                  cheers

Here’s a grab of our test server, it’s showing up some of the test images and isn’t sorting as yet.
But that shouldn’t be too hard to sort.

I’d really love to figure out how to play the movies in there though. That is an awesome way to view media.

                    That is awesome...

I’m glad someone has addressed this. I’m not experienced enough to have written my own snippet for piclens support, but it sounds like you know what you are doing, and I’m looking forward to it.

                    Thanks!
