It seems the Ditto documentation is somewhat inconsistent.

Doing a Google search for "ditto parameters" turns up:

    startID
    startId
    parents

for the key parameter depending on where you look (Ditto home page, Wiki, Repository).

(And I think the usage comment in the source code doesn’t necessarily match the docs.)

If the parameter is different for different versions, there should probably be a note to this effect wherever the parameter is listed.

Ditto is a critical add-on and new users have enough trouble without getting the main parameter wrong.

I’ve also noticed that it seems to be very "techy", to the point where a newbie to the script is huh because they can’t understand where to start with the program.

And the Tags video is nice, but w/out any text to show the code used (instead of having to stop and zoom into the video), and having it start by expecting you already have certain data there, it makes the process of using the script extremely hard. At least in my experience of trying to get the Tagging stuff to work.

I thought I had removed this post. Right after I wrote it I realized that I was confusing the Ditto docs and the Wayfinder docs and Ditto 1.0 with Ditto 2.0.

There is stuff to complain about in both (Soshite’s comment is right on the money), but most of what I posted here is off base. It *would* be good if the 2.0 docs put "(formerly startID)" next to the &parents parameter, though.

        Sorry for the confusion.

What I find confusing is that there is documentation for old versions that have different parameters (this is in general for MODx snippets). The truth is that documentation takes time and effort (try it some time, I have been putting together a ’manual’ for a client and it is driving me nuts), so I feel lucky to have what is available grin
