    Hello everyone,

    i have an suggestion:

    The situation:
My website contains a tree. In a leave there is an folder "articles".
The path from the root is e.g. Home -> Press -> News -> articles
Now, the document parent of every news is the folder "News" with the id 23.
The articles required the template "te_news".
The file isn’t show in the menu.

    The problem:
Each time, if a add a new news to my website, I have to set all
steps above - but always these steps are the same for my news.

    The suggestion:
In the mainmenu e.g. "Tools" there is a new entry: "Documenttypes"
In the new mask "Documenttypes" I can define the new documenttype "news".
The mask is about the mask "New document" in the main menu "Site". But in the
new mask "Documenttype" I have to set the seetings above only once:
    - Template "te_news"
    - Parent: ID 23
    - Show in menu: false

Now: In the mask"Site" -> "New Document" is over "Document Setting" a
dropDown-Field "Documenttypes". If I choose my new entry "news", the fields
"Uses template", "Document parent" and the field "Show in menu" are preset
automatically as I define in the mask "Documenttypes".

    The advantages:
The user (editor) haven’t to set these important settings - he can immediately
write the newstext. The result is fewer mistakes from the editor and it is
    softer for him.

This solution is build in the CMS webEdition. I find this as a simple and good
    feature.

    What do you mean?

I think this is a great idea and something that has been discussed a lot for the 097 release. This becomes much simpler to implement on top of the new framework. smiley

I believe you can right-click on the parent folder (News) and choose "Create document here". This should then inherit the parent template and parent folder. You would still have to choose "Hide in menu" though.

This would relieve 2 steps (if the News folder uses the te_news template that is).

Though what your proposing would be wonderful indeed. "New Document Templates" almost.

What I tend to do is to first Duplicate an existing document with all of the settings just the way I want them and then immediately edit it to give it the new content.

Hmm, I forgot the right-click - to duplicate an existing file is an good idea, too.
But this way is a "little bumpy" wink
