I wanted to seed the idea of a shopping cart system with direct compatibilty with Google Checkout. Seems like it could save a good bit of programming effort to, at least initialy, skip over the design of a full credit card interface.

I know that PayPal has been around for a long time, but that method has never been really as convienent as a simple credit card system. Besides myself I know of at least 3 other people who will usually skip over a site if they use only PayPal. Google seems to be easier and has one of the most trusted names out there.

I’m not a programmer unfortunately so I can’t handle the coding nor am I rich or I would just hire someone and donate it. But I thought if there was anyone already working on it or seriously considering it, this might be the most logical first step.

    What does everyone think?

It won’t be the first payment module built for ShopX, but it will likely be the third. And given that the first two (Echo/Authorize.net and offline processing) are already completed, that puts it pretty much at the top of the list. It’s actually more complicated to integrate a Google Checkout/PayPal gateway than most of the others (imho), but it saves the store owner the cost and complexity of using their own SSL certificate.
