This might have been discussed elsewhere, but nothing came up with a forum search.
I’ve been using WordPress for simpler websites and basic blogs (then sticking to MODx for the bigger clients) and the one thing I’ve come to notice is how useful the WordPress Dashboard page is; its like the central area of the WordPress Admin, a useful reference point while developing a site. Most plugins add something to the Dashboard, you can do quick posts, etc, etc
Would it be awesome if MODx (Evolution)’s Home screen was more customisable and functioned more like the WordPress Dashboard?
Here’s something I had in mind (if this is possible please let me know) but wouldn’t it be useful if snippets could be run on the Home screen; for an e-commerce website inventory and stock levels could be displayed right on the Home screen and also recent sales or user registrations.
(also on the note of calling snippets from within the Manager, imagine if you could call PHx, that would be very useful)
Also a quick post feature would be useful, allowing the client to create a post straight into a certain container.
What’re everybody’s thoughts on this?

I would steer clear of any bells and whistles that would add unnecessary complexity to the MODx core.
If my client requested such a feature (a homepage dashboard), I would build a module, and **somehow** have the back-end load with the module’s tab as the default opening panel (rather than the MODx welcome screen). Modules are magical. I’ll miss them in Revo (I know, I know, snippets are the new modules in Revo).
