There’s one or two very small things that I don’t think the editor in MODx has that it could possibly do with that a few other CMS’s do and that I’ve found quite useful.

A lot of the time when you’re uploading images to be used in a page, I want to display a thumbnail version on the page with a link through to the larger version. It’d also be handy to have an option (probably in the config page) to open up all images that link to their larger counterparts use lightbox or something to open them.

I’m fairly sure that with a few tweaks this could be achieved, but am unsure where to start looking. Still, I think with just one checkbox in the page below (labelled "Use Thumbnail" or something) a quick bit of Javascript added to the TinyMCE editor could do the rest.

Firstly I was wondering if anyone else might be interested in this, and secondly does anyone know where to start looking wink

I wouldn’t bet on it that this kind of feature would ever come to core install, unless some of the RTE’s does it.. sounds too much of a point-and-clicky thing wink But you can do it with this: [Snippet] Lightbox JS combined with phpThumb.. But if you want that userfriendly interface, you could try installing iManager or iBrowser.

Cheers doze. I’ll probably take a look at iManager and iBrowser and see if I can hook something up smiley

Do you know if anyone has tried replacing the default MODx image browser/editor (I think it’s FCKEditor for images) with the above? If not, no worries as I’ll have a tinker. I just didn’t want to repeat something that might already have been done.

I don’t think that anyone uses it in MODx, but they do use iBrowser in Etomite..

EDIT: but they both work as a plugin in TinyMCE, google for it or see this for example.

EDIT2: Oh, and if you install it, make sure you install the latest version as it had some security issues before..
