I suggest that upon login in the manager , in the top right corner ( username | Messages | Help | Logout | 0.9.5 ) a little red / green button should be put in , that automatically pings the modxcms.com server and requests news about latest security updates ,and in case there are such critical updates , a pop-up to appear to the user and attention him that his website is not secure . (something similar to what firefox for windows has).
Also , this coupled with a subscription service for security updates (I’m not referring to RSS , but to an automatic e-mail sender) would be great .
Any opinions on this ? Doable / too much server resources wasted / etc ?
Also check the
kRSS module, a feed parser for MODx manager

Add the security feed to it and voilà! you’ve got security notice in your manager

Changed the "feeds://feeds.feedburner..." to "
http://feeds.feedburner..." in the module configuration and all is well.
Yeah sorry failed to mention that

I did the same mistake !
