    Update; a little ago I couldn’t use the snippet (I’m wondering if they didn’t change the url of the ping receiver) due to an timeout, but Pingoat does work again (first time this week for me), I’ll give it another try next hour.

    Update 2; script did continue to run and didn’t generate an error, but Technorati didn’t get the ping, and somehow the event triggering (and code that is ran after it) messes up the redirection, because after submission and after the script is done I’m redirected to ’add-blog.html’ instead of the homepage (where ’add-blog’ was the alias of my NewsPublisher-page). I’m afraid the ping class has something wrong as well somewhere...

      Did you not mention that publising or republishing an article by using the manager works ?

      If it’s working when using the manager I think the ping class is not the problem.

        It seemed to be working, though I’m not really sure about it. When I use Technorati’s ping form it shows up within a couple of seconds on the site statistics, but with this class it either doesn’t show up or takes up to two hours - which could also be caused by regular spider crawling - if they have any, checking on that one.

            Little update; I noticed that today my first ping actually worked; it wrote to the logfile (apparently it only writes there if it succeeds, not on errors - too bad);
            Request: weblogUpdates.ping("Left Blank", "http://leftblank.nl")
            <?xml version="1.0"?>
            <methodCall>
            <methodName>weblogUpdates.ping</methodName>
            <params>
            <param>
            <value><string>Left Blank</string></value>
            </param>
            <param>
            <value><string>http://leftblank.nl</string></value>
            </param>
            </params>
            </methodCall>
            <value><struct>
            <member><name>flerror</name>
            <value><boolean>0</boolean></value>
            </member>
            <member><name>message</name>
            <value><string>Thanks for the ping</string></value>
            </member>
            </struct></value>

            So I guess it’s not totally broken, just requires some improvements. I’ll take a look at how some of the blog packages handle the pinging (and especially failures, as that’s the problem with Technorati).

                I’m sorry, I somewhat forgot about it since it hasn’t been causing any trouble, since a week or two it’s been working perfectly - seems like Technorati was causing the trouble. Thanks once again, perhaps you could also add it to the repository (if you still want to support it of course).

                  Thanks for the answer, I it’s works, I will add it to the repository and maybe add the ping to the other sites to.

                    Just thought I’d add this to this thread, since Zi steered me toward it. I know everything’s written in Japanese, but it does seem to function nicely, though I’d like to see it function on the "publish" event. It pings multiple update services. I don’t know if this is the same approach you took, maybe there might be ideas here to really make it kick some butt. smiley

                      Thanks for the post, somehow I’m not allowed to download the attachment though so I can’t download it, it does seem to be a very advanced (and complete) plugin, so I’ll send the author a PM I guess.
