    Just wanted to chime in here...

    Eventually, the explicit data structures for storing these things is going to go away in the core of MODx. But the same functionality, and then some, will be achievable through slightly different approaches, that will be invisible to the user of the MODx manager. Consider that in the future, you will be able to attach any kind of metadata or custom property to a Document, or even to the components (Templates, Chunks, Snippets, etc.) responsible for generating the Document content. This will expand the possibilities for generating keywords and descriptions, as well as provide great new potential for finding related content through the API.

    So I don’t think this is ultimately a question of taking away these features, but of implementing them in a more efficient and customizable way.

          That’s one thing i have used keyword and description meta tags for on other CMSs. Modifying them to some other purpose.

          Some people mentioned that they don’t hurt to use. That’s where I disagree. It’s misleading to have your clients believe they actually work. I have heard that the description tag is supported on MSN but that’s about it. I have been keeping my ears open on this for a fair while. I want to see other developers supporting the view that they are dead because everyone seems to follow the myth. Perhaps we should call them Elvis tags. I wrote something on it here: http://www.freelancewebdeveloper.net.au/topic.php?id=19

          I reckon yahoo probably do read them on occasion. But this is no reason to include them as Yahoo enters data into their search engine by hand. smiley

            @Rimian
            I don’t know whether your reference to meta > description (previous post) was a typo/mixup with ’keywords’, but descriptions very definitely are still being used by the SEs.
