I noticed that there wasn’t a comparable addon for MODx for booking, or am I wrong? The author of Solunas has made components for Joomla and Typo3...I was wondering if anyone was interesting in making such an addon for MODx?

As far as I understand, the Joomla addon is just a view into Solunas, and your hotel/villa bookings all take place on solunas.org. It’s unclear to me whether the Typo3 version lets you install your own Solunas. The Ruby stuff makes runing Solunas’ backend alongside MODx somewhat fiddly. It would probably be trivial to port the Joomla bits to work with MODx; also I see there’s a PHP API in any case.

That said, unless you have some particular reason for using Solunas, I think you’ll be better off finding a decent PHP open-source booking script and adapting it to MODx.

      What are your actual requirements?
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

This is for a winery that has two suites and a wedding pavillion. I was looking to find something that allowed for someone to check availability. If their dates were available, then they could reserve those dates and the system would automatically mark those dates as booked. Further, attaching the system into some payment gateway to process a charge for the suite or event facility based on various pricing schemes. Such as a per night fee, or a discount for booking more than one night (i.e. 1 night $100, 3 nights $250, 7 nights $500). And then some backend for managing these bookings. Viewing the reservations, changing reservations, etc. Also, it would be nice if it could send out a confirmation email.

I would recommend looking around and finding a script that does this, and modify its template to match your site, and link to it with a weblink.

Yeah, I was just hoping that someone might be interesting in building this functionality in a snippet or something for ModX. This is the forum for wishing and all smiley

That’s more than a snippet! That’s a whole web application! Those scripts take months, sometimes years to build, and you really need somebody familiar with the field to at least consult with.
