I enjoy using the modx CMS. However debugging my scripts is a long and tedious process. Can modx be integrate to work with the eclipse ide? Ideally I would like use the eclipse plugins aptana, a web 2.0 plugin, and a php plugin to modify debug my html, javascript, and php code in addition have a feature to upload the code and test in modx.

In fact mmccall, there is some work being done to create a MODx plugin for Eclipse, but in the meantime, I already do all core and add-on development for MODx with Eclipse configured with the PHPEclipse extensions. It works wonderfully, except for snippet debugging; this is due to the eval()’s being used to execute these currently. In future releases after 0.9.5, the eval()’s will be removed and debugging MODx snippets/plugins with PHPEclipse and DBG, or even xDebug will be possible.

Really? That’s great news, a MODx plugin for Eclipse would be so cool smiley I’m guessing you are spearheading that development? Where do you find the time ... laugh
