I notice the more snippets you use (collect) the more messy it appears and sometimes you’ll have to try and find a certain snippet in the list of many

how about a way to break down the snippets in a column like style and sectionalized, so we can put like minded snippets together for easy viewing and access

I think it would have to be customizable so we could define our own sections since everyone will be using a wide variety of snippets and modified ones as well.

    or....

you could set it up so the default snippets are in one section and any variations or modifed ones in its own section as to not get them mixed up

Now this would be a perfect use of tagging. Resources are grouped by tags in the manager interface.

        Yes, and there is more:
Since most of the MODx-users are likely to have the admin-role in a site, it would be helpful to distinct:

        1. default (unchanged) resources (like "DropMenu"), which are part of the initial installation
        2. changed "modded" versions of default resources (like "hacked" version of DropMenu)
        3. additionally added foreign resources (taken from the repo or individually developed)
        4. site-specific resources (resources or versions of them which are unlikely to be found in other modx-sites, since they use or implement site-specific behaviour (tvs, widgets and the like)
