    Hi there!
Maybe i am misusing ModX in a way, but one serious issue is the way ModX represents content in EDIT mode-- it does not read my CSS. Usually i put my stylesheets in root/css/ and locate them within the templates.

I choose ModX because it supports web standarts, and clean xhtml. But in edit mode my style sheets are not read, and layouts, font sizes, basicly everything is messed up. This is dangerous 4 ModX-- see I know my site and in case of something, edit the html code manually. But regural ’idiot-user’ like my mom, for instance, will flip out. I have to consider using tables to maintain the layout and other non-semantic in-line html formating and that sucks.

Div with header h5 and table styled with CSS. Looks nice.

The same in EDIT mode. =[

The same in EDIT mode with custom CSS =]

Maybe someone can correct my mistake?? -- i have tried to re-locate my CSS to asstets/templates/default/, hoping FCKEditor will read them, but didn’t work out.

Try setting the "Path to CSS file" field and see if that does the trick. Keep in mind that pretty much all the richtext editors including FCKEditor may require a custom CSS file to get all the CSS to display properly. Using the exact same CSS file you use for the site might now work the way you expect. You might need to experiment a bit. smiley

Good news! it’s not a BIG deal to re-write the CSS, as style sheets are pretty simple. Can you specify where can i find the "Path to CSS file" and write the ’custom CSS file to het all the CSS to display properly’?

        thnx.

In the manager, go to Administration / System Configuration. Click on the Interface & Editor Settings tab. The "Path to CSS file" field is just below the "Editor to use" option. Simply type in the path to the CSS file in relation to the root of your site. If you’re using a custom CSS file specifically written for the editors, upload it to a location somewhere in the Assets directory and type in the location in the "Path to CSS file" field.
