The simple reason is because MODx is relatively new, and people writing for it have focused elsewhere.
Your best bet is probably to find a newsletter script from elsewhere and port it to the MODx framework.
What exactly are the functions you are looking for, and what big sites are you looking to use it with?
Well, heh, its not a "big" site. I havent launched it yet cause i want to configure all.
Things i want to use in a newsletter-function from the backend interface:
1 - List numbers of subscribers
2 - Send email (html css template or plain text) to one or more users
3 - Send email to all users in a group, if they are in more groups then combine the newsletter sent with two headers, one "topic" for each group. Like this:
"Group 1
We have now updated the things in lala.
Group 2
There was some changes here!"
If the user is subscribed to both group1 and group2.
4 - Function to track users who clicked links in the newsletter
And front-end:
Function to stop recieving newsletter
Function to signup to newsletter
Also should be simple to add a user to group/s via other scripts, like if the user sign up to a affiliate site he automatic gets signed to the newsletter (like the other 3rd part script adds data directly to mysql)
Thats what i could think of right now!
Thanks
Beejay, don’t bother with this code, there is a Newsletter snippet already, and it’s pretty mature (posted in january) and powerful :
