[wish] Small, Simple AJAX Calendar?

Hi,

I just discovered ModX and have been playing around with it for a few hours, and I’m very tempted to switch over from Wordpress. However, I’ve been searching for a small AJAX calendar that can go into my sidebar. I would like to be able to add events that could link to a full page, and also be able to flip from month to month without reloading the page. I’ve searched the forums and found several calendars, but none are small and compact enough to suit my needs. A good example of what I’m looking for is the EventCalendar 3.0 plugin for Wordpress (http://blog.firetree.net/2005/07/18/eventcalendar-30/).

Does anyone know if there is anything similar for ModX, and if not, how hard would it be to port over a similar calendar? This is the only thing holding me back at this point. All I need is something small, simple, and relatively easy to add events (the easier the better!)

Any ideas? Thank you!

There isn’t anything for MODx like this yet, but it should be relatively straightforward to create one using a few TVs and the document tree.

Has anyone converted LiveCalender or come up with another solution yet?
I could really do with a calendar... It does seem strange Modx doesn’t come with one a standard!

Cheers

Hi Si,

I know that kylej is working on a sweet little calendar snippet as we speak, as mentioned in this thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,5566.msg39515.html#msg39515

Cheers,

Si,

I have been using ExtCalendar2 (http://extcal.sourceforge.net/) on most of my Joomla sites. It works great for my clients, tho some other developers have said it makes to many hits to the DB and dont like the some of the hardcoded HTML in it.

I was thinking of integrating this for MODx, but I might just see what kyle has up his sleave first.

Does anyone know of any robust and easy calendars that could be migrated over here (when I found ExtCal, I stuck with it because it worked fine). I am going to migrate a few of my websites to MODx as soon as I get a calendar working (and find the time).

Chuck

I have finished working on my Blog Calendar snippet DittoCal. Here it is: http://modxcms.com/DittoCal-696.html

There is no ajax functionality yet, but that is something I plan on adding to a later release.
