Our website would contain about 100 pages, all in up to 20 languages. The menu structure is extended and changes often. Duplicating the menu / page tree obviously does not make sense.

Being new here, I am not sure the best way to solve this. Right now I see two solutions:

1 - A menu structure where each menu item can contain multiple instances. Instead of drag-and -drop to select "parent", we would alternatively drag-and-drop to "select twin page". With a TV, DropMenu could then choose which of the instances (hence language) to show.

2 - Multiple content fields, like content_de, content_fr, content_nl for each page and the extension is a TV variable. Then we could use something like this: [*#content_[*activeLanguage*]*] where activeLanguage contains "nl"|"de"|"en"|"fr" etc.

      Tom,
Did you ever get a solution put together for this? If so, how did you set it up?

      Thanks!

        Hi Chad,

Not really; changing the fields we never dared as we thereby are moving out of the common denominator in the Modx community. So we still have to duplicate the menu-structure and all pages with their images etc., which is cumbersome. Life is easier if you first built it all in one language (English, as the snippets etc. mostly are) and then duplicate a whole branch with one command. Then give the language editor "a go". Maintenance is a different matter though.

Beside the pages, everything else is controlled by a template variable. So selection of language in snippets etc. and that works fine

So, the need is still there, but we are happy at the same time with what we got.
