I used phpwcms for numerous projects. I like it because it provides tools to create forms, contact forms, guestbooks, newsletters, etc. MODx snippets could be used in this way as well. Indeed, instead of creating a code [[Snippet? &something=1]], it may be more user friendly to insert a snippet using an html form. For example,
Insert snippet NewsListing using a form:
Choose the folder containing the posts
*dropdownmenu*
Choose a chunk to be used inside the previous link ["< Previous"]
*dropdownmenu*
Do you want to paginate?
*radiobutton*
... and so on to output [[NewsListing? &startID=`2` &summarize=`2` &total=`17` &commentschunk=`FormBlogComments`]]
Those forms could either be integrated into MODx or be available on the website!
at the edge of dawn,
you ask yourself if your shadow did follow you down
all night long
This idea occured to me a while back but I still haven’t figured out how to cleanly code the function that generates the final output though (I know a dirty way...)
Anyone have any ideas?
I too want to say that I came from phpwcms.. and I found it to be a very fast and flexible system.
The authoring was intuitive in that you could ’stack’ features per page and then dive into them for config etc.
the only other system that has an data authoring system that looks interesting to me is www.xaraya.com
There is a dynamic data mapping system, seems that it allows an interesting form of gui programming.
Both of these systems may have potential as User Interfaces within ModX.
I still think that ModX has the cleanest UI as a framework that I have looked at. (looked at 30-40 systems now)
