instant search

i noticed on the modx homepage script.aculo.us is mentioned.. is it possible to implement a instant ’as you type’ search easily with modx

Ahhh... live search with auto completion.

It sure should be possible, but not by me! LOL

Any code-inclined community member, core team or not, care to take a stab at it? That’d make for a great Flex-search upgrade and core addition.

I’ve only just downloaded Modx for the first time to use for a charity, this was pretty much the first thing I looked for

I’ve done live search and auto complete for a few sites now, but I know very little about the Modx codebase.

I’m definately having a stab at live search for my site. If I acheive it I’ll let you know.

I don’t really like autocomplete on such a small search box in a side bar, but it’s easy enough if live search works.

Will let you know what I find after going through the Snippet/module guides to get a better idea on how to present it to you.

The next release will include a fully functioning live search implementation that requires zero configuration for the default MODx database. I’ve tested and it works great!
