Distinct EVO from REVO in forums

My idea is shown in the attached image at the bottom!

Just a different color theme would make a huge
difference, but maybe it would require a whole new forum for REVO!?

This forum is the heart of modx and the community, but now we have
both arms attached to the left side of the body!

I would love to see the 2 different versions separated, I do also think that would cause a lot of work though so how about 2 different forums with the same log in details

We have plans to separate the Revo and Evo forum sections but there will be (as far as we’ve discussed) a single site for the forums where the products will be split into topics with appropriate subtopics, more than one forum (i.e. two forum app installs) doesn’t account for the non-product related discussions and other planned forums.

I like the idea of theming and would need to investigate that possibility. Again we have the issue where the forum may not relate to either Evo or Revo and that would need be considered.

makes sense, but can anything be done to the search so that you only search in the correct version. Sometimes search returns irrelevant and possibly confusing responses because you are looking at answers to the same question, but in the other version.

That’s a good question. We’ll have to consider filtering. Typically most forum software lets you search within topics or parent boards. It is possible to do this currently though it is not as straightforward as one would hope. Hopefully with the next steps of the MODX forums we’ll be able to improve on search.

I’ve run into some confusion with this too. First response to nearly all questions on the forum seems to be ’are you using evo or revo?!’

What if new posters could ’tag’ their forum topic with their evo or revo version so it would appear in brackets as part of the post title?

Again. We’ll be reviewing this as we prepare to move to our new forums in the coming weeks. This is extremely important to us and for users wanting to find relevant answers to questions.

All the code hidden here is invaluable assets. It would be sad if older posts became inaccessible.

We need a MODX Web Shop! Where we could order our own backup-DVD of the forum and mouse pads with the MODX logo!!
//wonder if google desktop would be able to search the forums through a localhost version...

All existing posts will be migrated to the new forums along with all existing users and post counts, etc. And search won’t suck any more.
