How do you decode the by the ratings/no of votes for packages on the Extras website? Taking an example if I sort my packages by downloaded, hihest first I get this :-

    Auditor 1.4-ga 1,692 5.7 - 127 votes Sep 14, 2009
    Clarity Pack 1.0-rc-1 610 5.0 - 61 votes Mar 05, 2010
    Provisioner 1.4-beta 547 Jun 08, 2010
    modx-auditor-analysis 1.1 527 5.1 - 249 votes Dec 03, 2008
    Aqueous 1.0-rc-1 453 5.8 - 73 votes Jun 21, 2010

Taking the last two how does 249 votes get a rating of 5.1 but 73 votes gets 5.8?

I would imaging it’s because the one with the higher votes has had more negative votes ( IE: 1 or 2 stars ) bring the actual percentage down hence a lower rating overall

Interesting, didn’t know you could have negative votes!. I guess the best thing here is to post the algorithm used somewhere, maybe I’ll understand it better then.

OK, ta, so then, the ’votes’ readout that comes with the ratings is total number of votes(stars), the ’votes’on the actual extra’s page itself is ’number of people who have voted’.
