While it’s not complete and there’s lots of polishing to go on less-frequently used pages, we’re happy to announce that there’s a new forum skin in town. That’s right, we’re loosing the last vestiges of the old look and feel. As a bonus, the new forum skin is much more productive in daily use. Test drive the theme by logging in first then:

Profile nav item → Look and Layout Preferences (Modify Profile secion) → Current Theme: Default or MODx or whatever (change). Click the change link select the MODx 2009 bottom option.

We hope you like it. We’ll be switching everyone to the new theme as default and releasing the old theme for folks to use as they so choose soon.

As a side note on the new skin, we’ve done a lot of CSS3 styling and are just going for progressively improved experiences. It’s pretty cool in Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4, with Safari 4 even using some CSS animations on the button hovers. Internet Explorer users will still maintain 100% functionality, just a bit more blocky.

Nice theme! I was wondering if you wanted to keep the old forum design.
Do you plan to migrate on the last SMF version too?

I really like this new theme, and it is my standard from now on. The only thing i miss from the "old" one is the order of kategory and title for each post. It’s so much easier to read "downhill" to get the titles of the posts if the title comes first (left, for me, I’m LTR) and the kategory to the right, as in the old theme.

As it is now I also have to flickr my eyes from left to right when reading through the titles in last unread posts.

So, my wish, seen from my point of view, Please change the order of title and category in the lists of posts. smiley
I think, thererfor I am! But what I am, and why...?

Thanks Sylvaticus. There’s a reason it’s done that way now, and it’s primarily for very heavy forum users and moderators. Here’s the rationale:

There’s a ton of traffic and new posts every day on this forum: too much to keep up with really, even with ignore boards turned on. That said, let’s say you’re absolutely uninterested in anything to do with, say, Ditto and Wayfinder. Since they have their own categories, you can skip over those quickly and get to the topics you’re interested in fast. (An alternative is to find the categories you’re uninterested in, click the category, mark all read, then return to the unread topics list):

The "new" icon will take you to the first unread post.

10000$ question, do you plan to move "someday" on a native modx forum using the core of revolution? laugh
