Looking for a way to sort data records (maybe DITTO?)

Does anybody have any ideas on how to accomplish the following? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m looking for a way to sort a list of of members. They need to be sorted by a catergory (that they will be assigned) and they need to be able to be sorted alphabetically.

I belive the way to do this is to make the resources children of the category parents and use DITTO to call them. That’s fine for the category part but then how do I handle the aplhabetical part?

You can sort Ditto by multiple criteria; separate them with a comma:
&orderBy=`category ASC, name DESC` or something similar.

That was the thought I had just wanted to make sure I was going down the right path. I will post my findings when I am done.
