Template thumbnails, and previews and modxcms.com performance

Is it just me, or did we lose the thumbnails and previews when browsing through the repository? The website seems slower than ever before. Did this change with an upgrade to the CMS, or is the new hosting environment. I notice both have changed.

If we are not going to have template previews then maybe we can just link to the sites that do show previews and can the templates in the repo? I am not hating, I just don’t see the point in browsing templates without a thumbnail or preview. Browsing in slow motion, none-the-less.

It took about 12 to 15 seconds just to post this new thread. That is what I mean by slow. Just feedback, don’t kill me.

I can’t say I have notice a huge speed change lately, but then again I suspect most of the stuff is already cached on my computer.

I have noticed the missing thumbnails and well they are missing :’(

I know I put this on the feedback thing some time ago, but no response of late so I guess it’s a known issue?

My site has thumbnails until things are sorted out, granted they are limited to my conversion which I think is still half the template offerings. Scottwells site also has some.

try to browse through the snippet library, it’s slow as hell most of the time...

I just ran through the extras section some and other than the first load of the main page taking a second or two everything came up within a reasonable period of time. Not sure if it’s fixed or there isn’t any traffic at the moment...

We did some optimizations on it this morning. Should be better now.

Well, technically, the way the repository works now is that users have to submit their own thumbnails for any Extra they submit. This includes thumbnails for non-templates, as well, since now all Extras support screenshots (thumbnails).

We might manually add in some thumbs to the older templates whose authors are MIA.

We need to resubmit them again? I submitted mine back when the new section launched so they should be there...

What Templates (or better, their IDs) did you have? The initial Extras section was a tad bit buggy with screenshots.

And you wouldn’t need to submit the template again; you can go to the template, click "Update Version", and then manually add in as many SS’s as you like there.
