Not the way it looks, just the way it works, or doesn’t work.

On the old site if I wanted to find a plugin or snippet I could go to the Repository and search for it either by name, tag, alphabetical order, most popular etc.

In the new site there doesn’t seem to be anything like that.

EG: If I do a search for the "Search Highlighting" plugin, nothing like it comes up, and there doesn’t seem to be anyway I can find it.

Same thing happens if I search for Ajax Search.

Similarly if I go to the Wiki and look for Ajax Search, nothing show up, but I know it’s there somewhere, I just can’t get to it.

(These options may still be on the site, but I just can’t find them, which is precisely my point. It’s just incredibly frustrating trying to look for something you know is there.)

Can we please have some sort of alphabetical listing so that we can find stuff. And also please bring back the tag clouds.

        Ah ha,

the old wiki. That is what I was looking for.

Previously I clicked on the Wiki link in the new top menu bar and got this page: http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/dashboard.action

And if I follow the Add ons or extensions links I just get virtually empty pages.

        Thanks Zi.

I just want the ability to edit repository items so I can correct my templates and get them to show up in the new category. I’ve got some 20+ templates converted and from the look there are only 8 templates in the repository of which none of mine seam to be listed.

Granted I agree in general the repository seams much harder to use. I suspect it’s due to the new categories and old resources not being added to those categories. I also noticed when I was looking for something that some of the resources lack a works with version xxx notation and got a random idea... Could we have some form of voting system where we could vote if something works for xxx version or if it’s something like the copyright updater that works regardless of version something like modx independant...

These were put in the wrong category due to the conversion script not being able to convert them to a Template tag, since they were not tagged as templates beforehand. The templates in question have been flagged and we are working on a manual conversion of them to the new format.

Also, we are currently working on an editing system for the new front-end repository. This will enable you to see all of your submitted Extras, edit them, tag them, and assign working versions to them. However, we’re a bit swamped in client work at the moment, so we’ll get to it as soon as we can. We understand the importance of it.

It is important to note that the repository system was rewritten from scratch; and there’s a lot that goes into it. At the release of Revolution-beta-1, you’ll also notice that the Extras in modxcms.com that are Revolution compatible will be downloadable straight from your Revolution install.

I’ve found the repository much faster in searching; however, I would agree that past versions of Extras did not convert properly, and that an editing system is necessary.

As for version-agnostic Extras; no, we’d rather Extras be specific about what versions of MODx they work for, and that the authors should be responsible for keeping them maintained - this prevents problems when new MODx versions are released.

Thanks for the clarification in regards to the current resources. I guess I will leave you to edit the resources as time permits, granted if you finish an editing interface first let me know and I will save you some work with my templates grin

I think you may have miss understood my idea on the versions. I agree the author should be responsible for their work and they should set the compatible versions and such like they do currently. That or they should pass on the upkeep of these submissions to someone else so the work doesn’t go to waste. My suggestion is more a tool to allow users to confirm the support claims. Let’s fast forward a touch to when Evo launches... The only way we know a 9.6.x or 9.5.x item will work is to test it out or search the forums... My suggestion is to offer other users the ability to comment on their experience with an add-on so if they tried it in Evo 1.0 and it didn’t work they could make a note that other users can see.

I guess you could call it a mini bug log or comments for the resources if you wanted, but it would be something nice to see. I hope this makes a little more sense to you and hopefully if used it might help prompt the authors to update their resources.

Anyways enough of my rambling, there was clearly a ton of thought and work put into the new extras section and it shows (it’s finally fast!!!). We are just jumping ahead with our requests to keep you busy wink

                Thanks for your hard work,

Don’t hesitate to log things with the feedback side tab and tag it addons too.

                    Just as an FYI:

We’ve updated the Extras section on modxcms.com.

Users, when logged in, can now edit packages and tag them properly.

Also, authors of versions can edit their versions of that package. Only the authors of the version can edit it. Authors can add screenshots, other files, state which MODx versions the Extra supports, and edit other metadata.

                    Thanks again guys.

I also want to give some feedback to the new site:

i think it looks quite good, at least at first sight. But when you want to find something specific, it’s very hard, even if you know it’s there somewhere.

There’s just too much on the page, and too many navigation items.

today, I wanted to find the repository - which I did after a while. This should be more accessible, with one click from the start page. What I wanted to see there is the newest additions. But it seems one can’t sort the addons by date. A pity!

Then I wanted to see the blog. It took me about 5 minutes and 3 new departures from the homepage until i found it hidden somewhere under "about".

Please rethink the navigation and the quicklinks (is quick access to "spread modx" really more important than to addons?), and remove some stuff from every page. The button-like links also add to the weight of the page.
