    I’m always using the forums to find answers to my modX problems. Consequently, I have to always perform a custom Google search in order to search JUST the forums - the only search allowed / available in the forums themselves is a Google search of the entire ModX website. I find this an unusual breach of usability for what is normally a very usable website. Why is there no "forums-only" Google search?

      There is a forum search. Right up there in the black band.

          Yeah but this search is not very helpful...

          There are two things you can do :

          1) use a favlet for the site:http://modxcms.com/forums/ search in Google, I had done one a while ago :

          javascript:void(str=prompt(%22Search MODx forums:%22,%22%22));if(str){location.href=%22http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp://modxcms.com/forums/+%22+str;}

          Indeed the problem with the Google search inserted in the forums is that it returns results from the whole domain which includes SVN, the website itself...

          2) Use the amazing BoardReader (kudos to Mark for discovering that one !), a search engine technology targetting forums and which gives pretty good results (better than Google actually !).

          You even have an info page about the forums :

            I would really like to have advanced search options in the forums because google often doesn’t give back the info I’m trying to get. Often this is because I can’t seaerch specific sections of the forums.
            So basically I’m stuck flipping through different pages and reading all the titles to find what I’m looking for. Advanced search would help solve this
