It would be really great if the forum had a "My posts" menu choice next to "My Messages."

I think many users never find the "My posts" link in the Profile section. I never thought to look for it there.

Also, it would be nice if you got a reminder about new messages when logging in and a link to read them. On the same topic (and probably much easier to implement), maybe the "My Messages" link (or at least the number next to it) could change color if you had messages.

YES!!! I hate having to go into the Profile>Posts to scroll through the posts.

What I do for coming to MODx Forums is have a shortcut to http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?action=unreadreplies. Instead of coming to the index I get to check to see what responses on subscribed posts I have. ( I don’t use email updates as they litter my Inbox.)

      Cheers,

Here’s my forum workflow that seems to work for me, and I try to keep up pretty well:

        1) Use ignore boards under your profile to hide languages I simply can’t read
        2) Click the Show unread posts since last visit link to see what’s happened since I last visited
        3) Command-click (on a Mac) the titles to open the topics in a new window ... there are certain topics I don’t read but that I keep out of my ignore board list so I can move topics there as needed ... If I didn’t need to admin the board I’d add those to my ignore board list. Instead, if I see those topics I simply ignore them.
        4) Refresh the browser on the tab created in step 2 above to clear the post title list
        5) When I’ve caught up, I simply click the "Mark all messages read" link above the post date/time stamp on the overview of unread posts

Good suggestions above and will be considered for the site redesign, or if Zi can get it to work before then. tongue

I’ve noticed in Firefox2 and Opera (9.2 stable and 9.5 beta) that the textbox when posting a topic/reply "extends", scrolling the page to the right.

"Fit to Width" mode in Opera happens to fix this, though.

I used to get similar behavior in Fx1/2 when using some non-standard fonts on Windows, but haven’t experienced this since I removed the fonts in question from my system.

Like the Eastern Asia fonts? I use them for some Japanese sites I need to visit for my website...

I wonder what causes that, though...

No, not Eastern Asian fonts (as if I could read those wink), just certain fonts; I think I had some versions of Myriad (Pro) that made forms in Fx look completely FUBAR. Just a problem with the font as far as I could tell...
