    Heya

I was wondering how many people are there around the UK (particularly london or south-east based ) that are Modx practioners? I was curious about the general type of people in the community around the UK when someone said to me "yea, most people based around the UK are wordpress, joomla or drupal" I think they are right but there must be a good representation of us modx peeps as well!

Please let us know your type of background/interest.

    I guess I should start

I am the senior developer of an affiliate marketing company and we sites varying from 2-20 using modx. I myself enjoy working with modx as it allows me to focus on the backend dev with its pretty friendly snippet and hook system, we have built internal code libraries around modx and use it as our main CMS.

We have designers who LOVE modx for the fact they can just dump their designs with minimal templating and we can knock up working prototypes after html cutting and figuring out what content to put into various pages.

I also help run a web meetup http://www.meetup.com/londonweb/ and have done a quick plug on it and general CMS bits http://www.vimeo.com/10497538

be good hear from my fellow brits!

Yep, I’m a London based freelance photographer (full time) with a career history in IT (systems management, not web dev).

      Based in West London.

I am currently putting together a client area for my website, where my customers can log on, view meeting notes, quotations, see their image galleries (proofs), select and comment on their photographs, write on their own ’wall’, upload documents, etc.

I’m doing it primarily because I want a very slick system for my customers, and hopefully it will one day grow into a business itself. I may direct the system eventually towards providing services to wedding planners and event managers, and wedding couples, so they can arrange their own event communications, guest registrations, table layouts, and more... but this is a long way off!

Would be most interested in meeting up with other modx devs, especially to share business/tech ideas.

      Thanks

      Mat

Interestingly, our top 10 cities according to Google Analytics are:
        [*] Moscow
        [*] London
        [*] St. Petersburg
        [*] Kiev
        [*] Paris
        [*] Sydney
        [*] New York
        [*] Zurich
        [*] Berlin
        [*] Minsk

London/UK should have lots of users.

wow, sounds like you going to try push the "framework" side of things to the limit wink

why don’t you come down to my very friendly london web meetup http://www.meetup.com/londonweb/ and we can have a chat. there should be a couple more places released in next couple of days.

I’ll be interested in bouncing around a few ideas as a buddy wanted to create personal gallery for his own photography (he’s a specialises in gig/small concerts photography)

UK based but not South, I’m up in Yorkshire. My main use of MODX is for running the site for the school I work at, and for a charity I’m involved in and for the local branch of a political party a friend of mine is involved in. Along with a few other bits and pieces.

No formal Web dev career, Just a sideline to my teaching job.

I’m full-time freelance designer/developer, pretty much everything I do is MODx related.
About 50% of the work is for direct clients, whole site design & development, the other 50% is for designers/agencies where I usually develop functionality/integrate the design.
Most are U.K., though not local, some are in the U.S., Spain, China etc.
Just looked at my profile and I’m coming up to 4 years with MODx and I’m still learning new/better ways of doing things grin
