Google Talk

Is it possible to add Google Talk to the list of IMs in the profiles? I know at least three of us have accounts already. If it’s possible it might actually be best to add a generic Jabber account field.

If anyone hasn’t heard here’s some more info on Google Talk

Google Talk uses the open Jabber protocol which is awesome.

I assume it should be relatively easy, but hacking the board isn’t the top of my priorities list ATM... :/

I’m another Talker, too, btw.

No customizeable profile fields, huh? Too bad.

There is actually a Google Talk plugin for the SMF forums.  I’m not sure why they haven’t built it into the core yet though. I’m a GT user through and through.

For the upcoming SMF v2

Of course, I suppose if someone was into hacking you could build a module for the chatback badge to display right under all the other methods.

For Gmail

For Google Apps

(replace DOMAIN with your Google Apps domain)

Anothe gTalker here.

With respect to Skype, I have problems with some of this:
