And now this: ‘Golden-voiced’ homeless man lands dream job, house. Obviously this guy’s star is bright in the sky and as much as I’m moved by his story, I really think the reporter who did the story, posted the video online, became his pseudo publicist and even bought him a cell phone is equally inspirational.

So kudos to the Ted, the reporter and the press for giving a determined man a second shot.

It’s really a great story, wish him the best.

I’ve heard that the modx team hired him with the donations money from modx, to promote the next (evo) version, With the slogan
"modx evolution (ver. 1.TO.MANY-PL)- modx’s version to the Poor."
i’m just kiddin’ evo is great as well.

The thing that worries me about him though is that he might go into relapse with his addiction. All that fame and fortune coming in at such a great speed, basically tsunami-in towards him can overwhelm somebody who has had nothing plus an addiction he once fed.

Very inspiring though. I watched all of his morning talk show appearances.

Last I read, he got picked up for having a big fight with his daughter who says he’s back on the sauce; now he’s gone into rehab.

I’m afraid I can’t have a lot of sympathy here; I went through much the same with my first husband. After several years of increasing problems that even the kids were getting uncomfortable about, he quit for a month just to show me he wasn’t dependent ("I can go without it if I want to"), then went right back to getting obnoxiously stupid drunk every night until I gave it up and left a couple of years later. According to him, it was my problem in objecting to his drunkenness and turning the kids against him, not his for the drinking. He would check the recycling boxes every evening when he got home from work, and hide any empty bottles among the regular trash. No problem? right...
