Vertical control in CSS

I have a set of changable images on top of the footer of the
site I am building and the problem I am having is that when
the images change height... the footer gets out of whack and
moves heigher or lower depending on the images...

how can I avoid this other than making the images the same size
all the time?

(I know that loading the proper size images all the time will solve
the problem but I am trying to make it foolproof for the client...)

are those images inserted via TV?

this will enable you to have control over size/shape/quality etc. of the image when displayed on the frontend

I am actually using TVimageResizer 1.7
but it does some strange stuff sometimes

I found it works wonderful if you give it just
one parameter, width or height. As in my news
section, I give the photo the width and it adjusts
perfect, keeping the aspect ratio.

If I give both parameters it sometimes converts to
smaller images than desired...
