An easier way to scroll through unread forum topics/posts?

Is there an easy way to scroll through unread topics/posts in the forum? I normally click on "...unread posts since last visit", then read a post...but after that I haven’t seen a setting/link in SMF that would allow me to scroll through just those posts, one after the other after I have read a post, something like a "next unread topic/page" thingy. It’s just so tedious; read a latest post, scroll back up or click "go up", click "unread posts since.." again...or click back button...click a another unread post...so on so forth. Any tips? I was thinking RSS but I don’t think all boards have individual feeds? Thanks.

I click on ’unread since last visit’ then go to the last page and move forward...when I reach the first one I click on "mark all unread as read’.

Shane, don’t quite get "move forward"...how do you do that, click on "next topic"?

I click on the same unread since last visit, then go to the last page as well. Then with each topic I cmd-click it to open each one in a new tab. Go to the first tab and start reading, and sometimes I skip ones I know I can’t contribute to. (This is why folks should write good subjects, not generic "How do I do this" vague things.) Opening each one in a new tab saves me a lot of time by not having to hit the little link, and I get a browser full of tabs to go through quickly. I can comment on them as usual, or just close the tab and be done with it. Mostly keyboard navigation.

Then I reload the show unread page and start again, one page of results at a time. I find it very productive and I’m fairly certain I’ve spent a fair amount of time here.

@Ryan...I have tried opening unread posts in different tabs but ended up with so many tabs open so stopped that..esp with FF being the memory hog it is...I wish SMF had a prev/next unread topic though...

Ah. Safari seems to work well and not suck up the memory, or at least I don’t notice.

Yep..I do as Ryan does...start at the last one and open in tabs...sometimes I can have many tabs but lately I am a bit more selective Specially since I know you (kongondo) will handle the Wayfinder questions...now I can just skip them

Seriously...I used to try to check out ALL of the posts but it can get to be quite a hand full and can take up a good chunk of your day..and so many are repeat questions. Although I do believe that you can seriously learn from other peoples difficulties

True about hours...I love the forums and helping out but my oh my..the amount of time I spend here! Maybe if I was better organised.....the repetitive questions are no fun...but I have learnt to accept some...its simply not very easy to quickly find info in a forum unless you know where to look. On the other hand, I doubt if some users even try to search

On windows safari doesn’t remember open tabs when you shut it down...that put me off, though I still have it installed. I am now trying to get into Iron...a Chrome clone (without all the google big-brother-is-watching stuff)

I check replies to my messages, then I do a "show unread since last visit" and read anything I think I can learn from or help on. Then I do another quick check on replies to my messages before marking them all read.

I’ve been reading them forward. I’ll have to try working back from the end.

I have found this firefox extension, AutoPager. It automatically loads the next page of a site inline when you reach the end of the current page for infinite scrolling of content.

By default AutoPager works with a ton of sites, including Lifehacker, the New York Times, Digg, and, of course, Google
