Offer code for VMware Fusion (for mac)

For you mac folks out there running two or more computers (like I was) VMware Fusion is offering 25% off with the coupon code "FusionRocks".

I can honestly say its pretty slick (thanks to @splittingred for the recommendation) now running XP on my mac and love it. Works better than it did on my desktop.

Of course there are free virtualization apps such as Virtual Box (FOSS) and Parallels (supposed to be pretty good.)

I have just upgraded to Parallels Desktop 4.0 today. Love it Lot of improvement.

For those who use VMware Fusion, when you run your modx site in the local server using MAMP (and Pro), are you able to check the site in IE via VMware Fusion? It’s suppose to work for Parallels, but I cannot get it working at all.

Shouldn’t it work using your local ip address?

I use virtual box and I access my MAMP with http://10.0.1.200:8888/

There are other threads mentioning about setting up virtualhost in Windows and I couldn’t get it work either, probably because I don’t really know how to set it up properly.

p/s. Apologize to Jay: sorry I sort of hijacked your post. I swear I only asked the question because you mentioned Parallels.

Anyway, I am going to try it one more time, as I was thinking  maybe the version 4.0 has made it very easy.

With XP no problem but with Vista I get a pretty high load (but hey, what would you expect from MS )

I downloaded VMWare (demo) and was pretty exited to use it. But, my smile faded when I discovered I still need to purchase a Windows install CD

I didn’t mean to imply you could run Windows without a CD. I had a copy in my office from a desktop pc that died. You can usually get it for under $100 for me it is worth it because I need to do local testing of projects on my staging server.

BUT you can run other OSs in the VM I just installed Ubunto as a VM on my MBP too. Works nice. No booting to test in Firefox Linux or K.
