    Please help as I am in desperate need. I absolutely love ModX but I am having a problem with one of my sites which is running on ModX. The site sometimes doesn’t load the CSS file, images and flash files. It most often happens on the homepage but it sometimes happens on the interior pages as well. Hitting the refresh button doesn’t solve the issue. I have to login to the site and actually open one of the templates (its not been shown to be any template in particular) and open and save the template. Then and only then does the site return to a normal display. I am hosting with GoDaddy on an Apache server with MySQL PHP version 5.0. I am attaching a screen shot of what the error looks like. Please if anyone has any experience with this please let me know.

      As a general precaution :
      I’d remove the leading slash from all the JS & CSS links.
      Have your .htaccess file re-write all the url’s to either http://www.rightstep.com/ or http://rightstep.com/, but not allow both.
      Clear the site cache in the Manager.
      None of the above will guarantee a fix, but I’d say they were ’good practise’.

        Thanks for the response. I will definitely implement those changes. The /slash before the Css and JS files comes from me adding [(base_url)] before all of the files as I saw that in a Modx wiki article are you saying I should remove all of them or just specifically from the CSS / JS files? Thanks for the quick reply though.

          When you have
          <base href="[(site_url)]" />

          in your template you shouldn’t need anything in front of assets/etc/etc..
          I doubt it has any real effect, but you never know.

            I initially thought it didn’t matter either but in my attempts to fix the issue I went to the ModX wiki and saw an example using those in front of the css/ and images/ links. It was a hope that the problem was the template was having problems finding these files. It turned out not to work. I am having trouble clearing the cache, I’ve looked up how to do that but I am a little confused, do you know if there is a better example of how to clear manager cache? Perhaps a video series?

              Clicking the tab should do it!

                I had a similar issue not too long ago. It was ultimately related to DNS and http://www.domain.com vs. http://domain.com. The pathway was essentially different, so the CSS file was not always being found. I would suspect that is why you are sometimes seeing one or the other (in your navigation code, some of the pathways are absolute and some area relative). I used the .htaccess, as bunk58 related, to force one or the other.

                  Thanks I will try that as well. I have been reluctant to do that as our email is not hosted with our domain. I know that is probably ridiculous of me to wait on that but don’t want to take our email down. I’ll check with our IT person before doing it thanks for the response if you have any other suggestions please let me know.

                    Download firebug, then you can see if it is a cache issue or simply a matter of the file not being found.

                      I have firebug installed but never thought to check the site with it when it was broken. I’ll do that as well. Hopefully all the other things I’m trying will work and I won’t have to see this again. Thanks again.
