One of the things I have learned over time is there is always going to be someone who knows way more than I do, and there is always someone (often someone you wouldn’t expect) who can teach me a lot.

I think what makes PHP so cool and easy to learn is not that it is simpler, more elegant, or more robust than program_language_x... it is not! It is a community that, in many circles, seems to have a limitless amount of patience for newbies and programmers of all experience levels.

Plus, php.net has THE BEST documentation of anything ever invented throughout the history of the planet. No other documentation comes close. And even though the naming conventions they have chosen for core functions is beyond F***ed up at times (compare php function names to Perl function names sometime  ), it is so easy to figure out how to use just by the php.net docs that you can’t go wrong!

So, I may have contributed some really quality add ons here, but I MUST be the first to admit that I am still learning. Everything is still an experimentation, trial and error, but this is a great place to experiment. Look at how many users here peek at the code and give hints and fixes to other users. MODx IS php to pirates!

I’m sure shortly after 0.9.7 is released, and he realizes what he can do with it, there will be various custom distributions of the MODx core from the great pirate. Here’s to the future Pirate Editions... CHEERS!
