Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could organise my documents for a magazine website I am looking at developing.
----- Please bear with me on this -----
Here is (a simplified version of) the structure I thought of using:
[[CURRENT ISSUE # Issue num]]
-----Articles
---------------article 1
---------------article 2
---------------etc
-----Letters
---------------letter 1
---------------etc
-----Regular Columns
---------------Column A
---------------etc
[[ Archives ]]
---Issue #A
(contents arranged the same as for current issue)
---Issue #B
etc
With each new edition the previous edition was going to be moved to the "archives" folder and the index changed to point to the new edition.
I just realised that this idea would run into trouble if someone outside the website linked to an article while it was current as the location would change once that edition was no longer current.
Having all the issues under the root of the site would obviously become very messy very quickly. Especially as there was a suggestion of digitising back issues. When these are thrown into the mix we get ~80 years, ~ 20 issues / year = lots of folders. Even if they’re organised by year, that’s ~80 folders.
Any suggestions?
