Joomla ad on Modx?

I know that google ads are automatic, but can’t you block competitors?
I just found it ironic.

I personally welcome competitor ads being displayed here. I believe in free market competition and to censor competitive intelligence at the advertising level is definitely not a priority on my to-do list. I also don’t think Joomla and MODx are necessarily in direct competition, or at least I see both Joomla and MODx covering enough of a distinct market share to co-exist successfully. Certainly there is some cross-over, but, bring on the healthy competition...

I totally agree with Jason here, my take has always been to rely on MODx distinctiveness and it works ! In the case of Joomla vs MODx even if we get a lot of post about comparisons I think co-opetition indeed applies here : we have neither the same target, nor the same underlying logic. In fact I kind of think right now we are kind of a new segment of our own : right between CMS and pure web frameworks. There are many who call themselves Content Management Frameworks, but few really qualify (lots of would be CMFs in the CMS world ).

I can’t wait until ads from Vignette show up personally

Would you believe that Dealtime.com (now Shopping.com) paid half a million dollars for Vignette, and it never worked? We had Vignette "engineers" over here trying to make it work. I met the Vignette salesman who was called in from a job in the Netherlands to close the deal.

They finally gave up, switched to Linux servers from Windows, and went with Perl and Mason.

I have heard friends from big corps tell me quite a similar story about Documentuum... I sure can see how big heavy boats like this can end up in the boat cemetery
