Am I Too Old ???

Does the creator of this forum board expect all members to be youngsters? I am not able to my correct age in my profile. For some reason I’m not able to make my birth date stick, as it allways reverts to 1969-12-31 - a bit more than 20 years away from my real birthdate.

I guess it have something to do with unix time, no one working with computers should be older than the unix time zero point, 1st of jan 1970

Let this be an example of the results of using the wrong data type for date manipulation.

A UNIX timestamp is intended to be just that, a timestamp. If you are recording the date a certain document was created, or something similar such as the date a user registered, of course the date could not be before 1970, since no UNIX-based computer system was creating anything before then! So counting the number of seconds since a known date is useful for such things, and until 2036 or something like that it will serve such a purpose admirably.

But a timestamp is not a valid data type for storing actual dates. Shame on the SMF programmers for making such a fundamental error.
