I wish text2speech & speech2text

MS Speech API already offers text2speech I don’t know if there is any speech2text api out there for websites, but I would really like to have that integrated on my site.

Due to lack of time, I’ll tell you my great idea of using a website without keyboard or mouse!
Just by moving your head or hand or whatever. All you need is a webcam, flash enabled browser and a microphone for text2speech. Adobe has already made a tutorial for motion detection. I find it’s simple..
I could enhance it to detect movements in the background and apply clicks on menu items or so which sound when you hover over them to make it "visible for blinds". This is a new kind of inituitive menu system for every visitor diabled and "normal".

like I told you, I would or maybe I will finish it If I have time..but this txt2speech and vice versa thingy is more important at the moment..cuz motion detection is easier =)

Text-to-speech and vice versa: As with most things, if you can point to a solution in PHP, it can be done in MODx.

Yes, really this would have nothing to do with MODx, it’s all in the browser. MODx just serves up a page, it’s up to the browser what it does with it, and it’s up to you what MODx puts in that page.

so you mean that’s the job of a blindreader?
thought that people can use a menu and access sites by "touching" the menu... (webcam)
that’s not only interesting to blinds, everybody could navigate more "freely".

I know almost nothing about it, except that Opera supports it. Nuts and Volts Magazine had a project in it about a year ago that utilized this to speak resistor values after you spoke the colors of the stripes.
