Ok, so i got an email from a disgruntled kid who plays an online game with me. Within the email were a bunch of pictures, and amongst them was a link that sent me to a page telling me that i had successfully installed MODx. I dont know if i actually did; there was no download registered by my computer, at least as far as i can tell.

Worried becasue i have no idea what this program does, or if it can be used to log keystrokes or something of the sort.

If anyone could clue me in as to if this mod can install without a verification on my part, and if so what steps i can take to remove it, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

The website assumes that the only person looking at it is the person who just installed MODx. MODx is installed on a server and helps people create funky websites.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.

        Damn Strait!
uh... if that’s what you want... it can also do professional, artsy, ethnic, and as of the latest revision "serious" websites. It’s that flexible! grin

But seriously, it is not a game mod, you don’t have to worry, it is a content management framework that can only be installed by someone who has FTP access to your webhosting account. unless you gave access to someone else, that means it can only be installed by you, and you would have to download this software, then upload all it’s parts to your webhost, then set up the database, then install it.

hope this puts your mind at ease.

I think you are probably quite safe... and fully understand the caution and being uncertain as to "what just happened."

That said, I have to say this was one of the funniest thread titles I have ever read laugh thanks!

and stick around, you might find some uses and decide to intentionally install MODx wink

I would suggest, however, that you seriously reconsider clicking on random links sent to you in email!
