MooFlex

The developers of mootools, a lightweight alternative to prototype+scriptaculous are working on a cms called mooFlex. There was a private beta release some time ago, and a public release was to be scheduled, but has been delayed.

Has anyone heard about this, or signed up for a private beta. Their mootools javascript library is amazing, I am certainly curious to see what their CMS is going to be like. There are some screenshots, but they don’t tell me much... cept it looks pretty! seems somewhat WP-esque in its handling of content. That’s not necessarily a bad thing for a basic blogging tool, but then again, I could be wrong.

Might be something to keep an eye on.

I *have* kept my eye on it, but ever since the private beta (which I was too late subscribing to ) it seems MooFlex has been dropped altogether... at the time, it was the first implementation of AJAX driven backend (or supposed to be so...).

I think it’s a dead project... writing a good and flexible CMS that works in a large variety of installations isn’t honestly an easy task!

I also think those guys underestimated the task at hand.

They’re damn good, I mean look at MooTools, but maybe writing a CMS was a bit more difficult than they expected it to be, or maybe the projected rentability was too low... Anyway, I wouldn’t mind having one of those guys take a peak at MODx and who knows, offer help to build MooTools based features for the next-gen manager as a showoff for their js framework Not that they need it, really, just jibber-jabbering there

I’ve inquired with them several times in the past re: looking at MODx and have never even got a courtesy response. Perhaps some of our Italian team members could take up the reigns there... ?
